Charlie "CJ" Jones, Jr. was born on May 26, 1945, in Halley, Arkansas, to the union of Charlie Jones, Sr. and India Lee Jackson. He was raised by his loving          grandparents William Luther and Maggie Jackson.

He attended Chicot County High School in Dermott, Arkansas. In 1964, he was  voted Valedictorian of his class due his advanced and exceptional skills in English and Math. As a boy, CJ spent most of his days attending school and working in the fields. In his free time, he played with his childhood pets Puny and Jack.

Shortly after graduating, he relocated to San Diego, CA to live with his Aunt    Clovis. As a young adult, he enlisted in the Navy where he served time in           Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, and the Philippines. He served a total of four years  on the USS Aludra and received several medals of honor including four bronze stars in recognition of his service in Vietnam. In 1967, while stationed at Alameda Naval Air Station, he met Pepsi Deshotel and from that union were born two   children, Chanel Dyan Jones and Karl Fabian Jones.

After receiving an "Honorable Discharge" from the military, he became a resident of the Bay Area and worked at Kaiser Cement in Cupertino, CA as a Maintenance Machinist for thirty-five years.  Upon retirement, he relocated to Sacramento, CA.

During his lifetime he enjoyed many things, but music was his passion.  He was a former member of "THE INDIFFERENT ONES", performing at local venues. He was also a "DIE HARD" Raider Fan!!!  He loved attending Warrior games,       tailgating, boxing matches, deep sea fishing trips, bowling, casinos and concerts. He also enjoyed hosting BBQ's and fish fry's but more than anything he looked   forward to spending time with family, camcorder always by his side.

CJ was preceded in death by his mother, India, his father, Charlie, his brother, WL, and sister Maggie, also his son, Ramone and grandson, Zaki.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Pepsi Deshotel-Jones, daughter Chanel Dyan Jones, and his sons, Karl Fabian Jones and Jamil Abdur-Raheem.  Among his siblings he leaves his sisters Margie, Milrean, Jean, Joanne, Gloria, Brenda and Shirley, and brothers, Arnold, Kenny, Edmond and Alford. In special remembrance, he leaves behind the eldest living member of his family, Aunt  Katheryn Jackson Thomas (who was more like a sister), his special relationship with Maria Castillo, his companion Mateo, and a host of grandchildren, great       grandchildren, extended family members and many incredible friends.

CJ believed in the Most-High and the Word as he had a personal relationship with the Creator.
