Obituary

Larry Dwayne Carrigan was known to all growing up as "Eddie Bear". Born on March 18, 1950, he was the first-born son to Herman Carrigan and Joyce Marie Johnson.

Shortly after, his mother remarried, and Larry learned about responsibility at an early age when he became the eldest of five siblings Sandy, Greg, Rodney and Steven.

He attended school and church in Richmond, California and later graduated from Richmond High School. After graduation Larry joined the United States Marine Corps where he spent four years in the Marines until leaving Vietnam due to the death of his father.

After returning from the service Larry started working for Chevron Refinery which turned into a 30-year career and later retirement. During this time, he met and married Debbra Ann Thomas, who had one daughter Cherie from a previous marriage. They later had two daughters Joy and Latisha, and their union lasted many years.

Several years later Larry met, and married Tekela Andrea Louis and they had two children Jadah and Larry Jr. They moved to Sacramento, California and joined the local church that is now named New Direction Christian Center.

Larry LOVED spending time with his family. Enjoying activities such as Tae Kwon Do, BBQs in the backyard, traveling and relaxing watching a good movie. He had an extremely competitive spirit and loved to play cards, dominoes, and variety of other games which his favorite was darts. Larry competed and won many dart tournaments over the years and was known as the "Dart Champion".

Larry was a very big family man, very prideful and protective with a strong belief system.  In his life he focused on continuing to carry the torch of "FAMILY UNITY", that was passed down by his mother. With this torch he became the extended patriarch for all family Christmas gatherings, and other family events.

Larry was proceeded in death by both his parents and two brothers Greg and Rodney.

He leaves to treasure his memory; wife Tekela Carrigan, three daughters Joy Carrigan, Latisha Carrigan and Jadah Carrigan, and one son Larry Carrigan Jr. Two sisters Sandra Carlisle and Lisa Carrigan and one brother Steven Carlisle. Four grandchildren Mia Stewart, Jomoris Stewart, Jelani Stewart and Isaiah Holly. One great-grandchild Ellie Hill. Two nieces Mikela Hooker and Renah Carlisle and two nephews Elliot"Tristan"Lawson and Steven Carlisle. One great niece Ellayah Lawson and one great nephew Terence "Mekhi" Bryan. Two sisters-in-law Hiwot Carlisle and Annie "Vaughon" Shaffer and one Godson Ranondo Johnson.

Larry Dwayne Carrigan son, brother, father and friend is now one of our ancestors and watches over us. His legacy will live and carry on through his children and all those that he has touched. You will forever live on in our hearts as spirit never dies and energy is eternal.

Rest in Power King as you are now free….
