Creation of Life
Eddie Lee Collins was born on July 11, 1963, in Sacramento, CA to the proud parents Milton and Betty Lou Collins. He was the 7th son of 10 siblings. His father Milton Sr. passed away when Eddie was a small child. After the death of this his father, his mother remarried.
Education
Eddie attended both Robla and Fairbank Elementary Schools. He attended Las Palmas Jr. High and Norte Del Rio High Schools and graduated in 1982. From 1982-1983, he attended American River College, where he played football (linebacker position). Ironically, his brother Steve also played football for Sacramento City College on the opposing team and it was often they played against each other for Championship Conferences for many successful years. He loved sports and coached youth basketball for many years.
Employment
Eddie was a very hard worker and maintained his work ethic throughout his life. He worked as a Security Guard at the Century Movie Theatre for many years and often treated his nieces and nephews to a free movie by letting them in the back door. In 2002, Eddie worked for Sacramento County of Education, Para Educator, as well as facilitator of a Group Home. Eddie made lots of close friends' especially those who knew him at Dry-Creek and Rutter Jr. High. He had a personality that could create laughter when he stirred up a mess, he could walk away with a smile.
Spiritual Journey
Elder Eddie was a man who loved the Lord and devoted his life to the church at a very young age. He was baptized in 1973, under the Pastoral and leadership of Reverend John Corbin at Victory Temple Church, Sacramento, CA; and received the Holy Spirit. As Elder Eddie grew in his walk-in ministry, he traveled throughout Sacramento County teaching and preaching the word of God. He was blessed to be a member at Pearly Gates COGIC, New Testament BC, Higher Heights, and I Thessalonians BC. He also traveled by way of invitation to many churches in the Bay Area and state wide, worshipping, singing, preaching and teaching. Elder Eddie sung songs of Zion on many occasions for Bishop & First Lady Foster at Greater Grace Worship Center.
In February 2018, Elder Eddie united with New Direction Christian Center, Sacramento, CA under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Ramsey Wallace. It was there that he preached his last earthly sermon on April 29, 2018, subject: "The Glory of the Lord" II Chronicles Chapter 7.
Legacy
He was preceded in death by his (Mother), Betty Lou Favors, (Father) Milton Collins, Sr. (Step-father) Bob Middleton, (Step- father), Eddie Roy Favors; (Brother) Milton Collins, Jr. (Brother) Daniel Collins, Sr. (Sister) Barbara A. Middleton, (Step-sister) Buree Smith and (Sis-in-Law) Rose Collins.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his sister Denise Jackson, and brothers: Leonard Collins, David Collins, Steve Collins and Stanley Middleton. His favorite cousin Melvina Allen (Pudding), Sister-in-laws: Pam, Frances and Cheryl. Brother-in-law: Brian Jackson. He will be truly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family and friends. Eddie is dear to all of our hearts and his memory will never be forgotten.
