Eleanor Joyce
Horton
Feb 21, 1950 — Aug 19, 2023
Sacramento
Eleanor Joyce Horton affectionately known as "Joyce" was born on February 21, 1950 to the proud parents of Asburry and Eula Jeffery in Oakland California. Eleanor was the fourth child born to this union. She attended Oakland Tech Highschool in Oakland, California. Eleanor accepted Christ at an early age and attended Church of the Living God with her parents often.
After high school, Eleanor attended San Jose State University. When the opportunity was presented for her to become a Flight Attendant, she eagerly pursued the new adventure. And that's just what it was, a true adventure that allowed Eleanor to see the world.
In 1969 Eleanor met the love of her life Frank Horton (papa). They knew what they had was something special and married on May 2, 1975. To this union Kenyetta "Nikki" and Catherine "Cathy" were born.
Eleanor had such a zest for life and working around people. While being a wife and homemaker she worked as a Health Care Worker at UC Davis San Francisco. Later she and papa moved to Sacramento, Ca. In Sacramento her joy of working with people continued. She worked for Regional Transit and later Sacramento Unified School District as a Bus Driver. In later years she became an In - Home Care Provider for the elderly community of Greenhaven. No matter the job or the task you could see the love and passion Eleanor had for people.
If you were often around Eleanor you could see her doing a puzzle or making a meal. It was mandatory that every meal included a little Best Foods Mayonnaise. She enjoyed caravanning with her sisters Pat, Juanita, Donetta and Marsha to local casinos. Most of all she appreciated beautiful things.
Eleanor's most fulfilling moments in life were the joy of her grandchildren. She had a special and unique relationship with each one.
Eleanor's joy for life, love for her family, and wild sayings will forever live on and be felt by the Jeffery, Horton, and Stafford family.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents Asburry and Eula Jeffery; husband Frank Horton; sisters: Audrey Doneel, Deserie Anita, Natasha Lynn, Anexial Diane, and Yolanda Kay.
Eleanor leaves to cherish her children Nikki, Cathy (Ronald) Special Sons; Rupert, Desmond and Kyle; God daughter Denise; Siblings Patricia Aileen, Juanita Delores, Doris Donnetta, Loretta Del Marsha, Latyuana Bernedia; one brother Gregory Leon Jeffery (Patricia).
