Reflection of Life

Frederick Eugene Broadway went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2018 at Rosewood Convalescent Center, surrounded by family. Frederick affectionately knows as (Uncle  Bubba, and Bear) was born on February 18, 1951 to Eddie and Addie Broadway.

Frederick was a graduate of G.W. Carver High School in Houston, TX. He was a singer and a dancer (James Brown Impersonator)

In March 1970, Fred married Sharon Smith. He was a father to Terry Smith, Rebecca Broadway, and Jeffrey Broadway.

In August 1994 Fred married Lena Ellison. He was a father to James and Raymond  Ellison. Fred and Lena were together 27 years.

Fred was also a father to Jimmy and Toby Cyrus.

Fred was a hardworking man and has had many jobs, even including furniture mover and gas attendant. The job he was most proud of was his position of Environmental   Technician, in the surgery department at Houston North West Hospital. He was   employed there approximately 10 years, until his health failed him. In 2013 Fred moved to  Sacramento, CA to live with his daughter Rebecca.

Fred was a true man of God. He accepted Christ at an early age, joining New Zion Temple in Houston, TX.

In the early 90's Fred joined The Guiding Light Baptist Church in Houston Texas. It was there that Fred became a Minister. After his move to Sacramento, CA in 2013, Fred  attended Friendship Baptist Church.

In 2016 Fred united with The New Horizons Community Church (formerly New Greater Gethsemane Ministries) There he was a faithful servant until his health prevented him from attending but he never lost faith, continuing to minister to the nurses and doctors.

His words were always " I am a soldier in the army of the Lord." Fred will be greatly missed by his daughter Rebecca Bradway, sisters Edie Broadway Flest (Leroy), Millie Jean Payne, Catherine Payne. Sons Jeffrey Broadway, James Ellison, Raymond Ellison , Bishop J. Cyrus. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Vera Kelly, Martha Broadway, Vernita LeBlanc; Brother, Clinton Broadway; Son, Toby Cyrus, and daughter, Terry Smith. Fred is survived by 8 grandchildren , 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
