Helen
Clark
Oct 18, 1954 — Mar 7, 2020
Helen Jean Clark was born on October 18, 1954 in Florence, AZ to Andrew Lee Moore and Alfredia (Wyatt) Simpson.
Helen attended grade school, Jr high school and High school in Coolidge, AZ and later relocated to Sacramento, CA in 1973. She attended Cosumnes River College for a short while before becoming a Student Aide for her dear friend "Dr. Spencer". In the late 80s, she began her career working for the State of California as an Assistant Clerk. She worked for several different state agencies before retiring from the Department of Motor Vehicles as a Manager I, after nearly 30 years of service.
Helen dedicated her life to Christ in 1991 at the Good Samaritan Cathedral II, Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop G. R. Ross. In 1992, she became a member of the True Holiness Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent Amos Nugent Jr., where she served as the Executive Secretary and board member.
Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to rearing her four children, while also lending a helping hand to anyone in need. The doors of her home were always open. To say that Helen had a big heart is an understatement.
Helen had an outgoing personality. She unapologetically lived her life and encouraged others to do the same. Although she was a straight-shooter and definitely spoke her mind, she was very kind, compassionate, and understanding.
Helen loved spending time with her family and friends. Playing Scrabble, Yahtzee and cards were a few of her favorites, but she was the Queen of dominoes. – "A Dominologist!"
She also enjoyed traveling, social gatherings, cooking.... and of course, eating!
Helen entered peacefully into rest on Saturday evening, March 7, 2020.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father, Aflredia (Wyatt) Simpson and Andrew Lee Moore Sr., her brothers, Johnny B. Mitchell and Andrew Lee Moore Jr., and former husband, Charles Freduah-Gyimah.
Helen leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Donald A. Johnson Jr. (Angie), Latasha R. Clark, Michelle D. Davis and Rachel J. L. Nugent, her sisters and brothers, Linda Jenkins of Glendale AZ, Naomi Rutledge and Bettie Moore of Coolidge, AZ, Quindia Palmer and Dorothy Palmer of Casa Grande, AZ, Governor Mitchell (Nora) and Noel Simpson of Phoenix, AZ and Sybil Williams and Tiny Mitchell of Compton, CA. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and many many friends.
