James E. Brown, Jr., was born February 6, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, to his late parents, James E. Brown, Sr., and Louise Mae Brown.  James was the fourth child born to this union out of five.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Harriett, Darlene, and Elaine.

James will forever be missed by his brother, Eugene, daughters, Brenda, Patricia, &  Kimberley, grandchildren, Secku of Sacramento, Sedar of Phoenix, Porsche, & Brittany of Des Moines, Santino of Denver, DeMario of Afghanistan, Sherah, Lloyd, Vernon, & Martha of Des Moines, great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ethan, Channelle, Channesse,  Sean, Isaiah, Michella, Michael, Ariana, Keanna, Tiara, Sir Charles, Kobe, Gracelynn, Aria, Cameron, Michael, Cayden, Talia, & Byron, Jr., & one great-great grandchild Vincent,  nieces Tina & Roxanne, nephews Michael, Darwin, Tom, Russell, Richard, Kevin, & Brian.

James was baptized on April 4th 1954 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Des Moines IA. By Pastor Harris.  James graduated from East High School of Des Moines, Iowa, in 1956.  He participated in football, band, woodshop, and the Glee Club.  After graduation, James enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17, served from 1956 - 1976 where he worked as a Food Service Director; his last position held before retirement was Food Service Supervisor of ten years & he was sent on different assignments to Japan, Okinawa, Korea, England, Thailand, & Vietnam.  In the course of his service in the military he met and married his first wife, Inez, in Virginia (20 years).  Right before James' retirement in the military, he obtained his license as a Life Insurance Underwriter in 1975.  In 1976 - 1978, James worked as head of Building Operator in charge of a couple of staff members in Topeka, Kansas.  In 1978-1980 James was selected to serve as Lead Building Engineer in charge of staff members for the new administrative center in Topeka, Kansas.  From 1980 - 1981 James worked his final years as Building Administrator with East High School, married his second wife, Carolyn, and started his career as a Dietary Supervisor at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville, Iowa.  James' second retirement from the State of Iowa was in the late 90's.  James married his third wife, Wilma, of Des Moines, Iowa.  In the year 2000 he continued to work part-time at the following jobs before he fulfilled his dream to move to Sacramento, CA:  Iowa State Fair, Boone Race Track, Stoney Creek Inn, Marshall Town Race Track, & the HyVee Grocery Store.

He had a special love for sports & watching the Nascar races.

James lived out his remaining 4 years of life in Sacramento, CA.

And he leaves to cherish his memory various relatives and friends
