Casino Elite card holder, James I. Langford, mostly known as Jim, OG, Dad or Grandpa, was born on June 19, 1948 to Mary & Tex Langford. Following in his father's footsteps from World War II, he joined the navy at 18 years old. He proudly served his country  from 1966 to 1969 as a gunner man on a tango boat in Vietnam, protecting his platoon.During the time he served he received three awards for Combat Action Ribbon, Expert Pistol Shot Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon. After the war, he returned to Sacramento, California where he purchased what would be Christina and Crystal's childhood home. Like his father, he worked at the Campbell Soup Company, where he began on the assembly line and eventually became a forklift driver, working there until he retired. However, retirement wouldn't stop Jim and he decided to work as a roadside service agent with AAA where he loved helping people in their time of need and would proudly boast that he was the highest battery salesman over multiple months. He was very hardworking, but once home he engulfed himself in the television, watching MASH, detective shows, Judge Judy, and golf. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan (You should have heard his yelling on Dallas Cowboy game days!), and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. He did attempt to take his daughters on trips, but they would insist that he throw the fish back and cry when any animal was shot, so those trips were very short-lived. He got his daughters involved in gymnastics early on, even building a balance beam in their backyard to practice on. He was happy to indulge in most anything his children wanted, including buying collars and leashes for the pet ducks they brought home without his approval. Especially later in life, he loved to go to every casino in the area, where he always had the lucky player card that earned him many wins on the slot machines. When his granddaughter Amelyha was born in 2010, he was determined to spoil her for the rest of his life. He tried to spend every moment he could with her, frequently showing up early at school pick-up unannounced, insisting to take her to pick out some toys or to do something fun. They went on many walks together, and named and fed the squirrels they saw.

Jim is survived by his son Jim Jr., two beautiful daughters Christina and Crystal, his sister Patricia (Trish) Langford, and his sweet granddaughters Savanna and Amelyha. He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Tex Langford, sister Mary Jewel Larson Langford, and two brothers Charles and Calvin Langford. Jim was known to be social and well loved by his friends and family, frequently surprising his friends with his company. Because of Jim's love for hunting, he had a Brittany hunting dog Bernie that was well loved by the family. The immediate family also had cats and he especially loved the ornriest cat named Odie, and spent a lot of time with her. He also cared for the surprise pet ducks, Quaker and Dasher with his daughters and they became a part of the family as well.

At 73 years old, he passed away unexpectedly on January 27th, 2022 due to acute hypoxic respiratory failure exacerbated by COVID 19 complications. He left this world fighting until his last moment at Methodist hospital in Sacramento, CA. Jim will have an open casket viewing at the Ramsey Wallace funeral home, followed by his buried cremated remains being laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA
