Jofert Lewis Samuel was born in Orange, Texas on January 20, 1961 to the parents of Herman Samuel, Sr., and Emma Lee Samuel.  Jofert began his education in Orange, Texas at Wallace Elementary School, and the family later relocated to Oakland, CA in 1968 where he attended E. Morris Cox Elementary School and graduated from Castlemont Hight School.

Jofert and Cheryl Murray were blessed with a daughter Felicia Murray-Jones.

Jofert was a kind, caring, and dependable individual who was always willing to help in some way.  He was a devoted friend.  Jofert was an outstanding pool shooter, and a great dancer "aka" Joe Dancer.

Jofert will forever be missed.  He was preceded in death by his father Herman Samuel, Sr., brother Byron Keith Samuel, and is survived by his sister Sylvia Ann Samuel, and brother Herman Samuel, Jr., his granddaughter and grandson, one aunt Robertha Fredrick.  A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
