Kirk Donald Harvey was born on February 3, 1958 in Detroit Michigan to Miriam Eugenia Phillips and Rufus Harvey.  He is the third born of five children in the family.
Kirk was educated in the Detroit Public Schools, playing football for Central High School and later graduating from Cody High School.  Kirk continued his education at the University of Detroit, where he earned a Bachelors' degree in Communications.  Over the years he worked in sales, photography, various promotional enterprises and in the travel industry.
Kirk committed his life to Christ at Grace Refuge Mission at the age of 11, greatly influenced by his mother, who was a great woman of God.  He accepted a call to the ministry in his early 20's and served in the church founded by his mother, El Shaddai Christian Ministries.  He married Dr. Karen Walker and was blessed with a son, Edward Donald Harvey and a daughter, Ashley Lauren Marie Harvey.
Kirk loved working with young people and served as a Youth Ministry leader for his uncle, the Rev. William Phillips, in his church's Venturing Program for teen boys and girls.  Kirk was also instrumental in implementing the Samaritan Way of Michigan Non-profit with his uncle.  Kirk also served as a counselor at youth camps with his close friend, Pastor Allen Ewell.  He had a great sense of humor and brought laughter to many occasions.
Kirk loved being with family.  He was a chief organizer of family reunions held around the country over the past 20 years.  He was responsible for many family members meeting relatives they never knew.  He was faithful to the family weekly prayer call, which grew out of the last family reunion in Detroit in 2017, taking on the mantle of leadership after his cousin Derrick passed away.
Kirk moved to California in 2006.  He married Tameka Presley and began a new phase of his life.  Compelled by a spirit of service he sought opportunities for ministry.  He began participating in a men's Bible study and later began mentoring a community group.  His weekly recurring prayer was for his family in California and around the country, for Pastor Allen and his church, for the two men's groups he served, for all those who requested prayer and for church leaders everywhere.
On December 30, 2020 Kirk lost his battle with cancer but gained entry into his eternal destiny with Christ.  Both his parents and two of his brothers, Mark and Jeffrey, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory: his wife Tameka, his son Edward and daughter Ashley; brother, Michael, and sister, Lillian (Andre); two stepdaughters, Ashley Armant (Donald) and Kassity Johnson (Brandon); three grandchildren, Nehemiah, Destiny and Raelyn; uncle, Rev. William Phillips (Rev. Cheryl); and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
