LaTanya was born September 3, 1969 in San Francisco, California to Walter Ross Jr and Quendline L. Ross.  She came to know the Lord at the age of five while living in Schenectady, New York.  The family relocated back to California, settling in Oakland, where she united with Grace Baptist Church.  In church, LaTanya loved to sing in the choir with her sisters.

LaTanya was a star softball player while attending Fremont High.  She graduated in 1987. In addition, she completed her Associates degree in business management from Consumnes River College.

Mom loved to sing, whether she was in church, at home or in the car she was always "in concert". She was a woman with many skills and talents such as mechanic, truck driver, and smog tech.

LaTanya was blessed to have four boys: Donovan (Donnie), Alton (JR), Justin, and Darian (NUNU) which she raised by herself.  She was also a mother to those that had no home, the outcasts, and the black sheep whether they were one of her son's friends, the band or the hood.   LaTanya was a strong and solid woman.  She may have not been perfect but she uniquely displayed her love and affection whether it was punching you or talking mess.  LaTanya taught us to hustle the right way, and to treat a woman like a queen.

On April17, 2021 LaTanya peacefully transition from this life to the Presence of our savior. She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Quendline Ross.

She is survived by her sons, Donovan D. Tarver (LeTara) of Elk Grove, CA, Alton Long Jr of Pittsburg, CA, Justin Ray of Sacramento, CA, and Darian Ray of Sacramento, CA;  her nine grandchildren (AKA TEAM G.G.), Neveah Tarver (13), Maleiya Long (11), Aniyah Tarver (10), Nailah Rays (8), Kaydence Tarver (7), Manaya Long(4), Adore Ray (4), King Long(3), Donovan Tarver II (2); siblings, Ingrid (Ron), Irene (Curtis), Shirell (Anthony), Walter III (Scoobie), and Davidshka; and a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great cousins, godchildren and friends.

LaTanya will forever be missed by those who love her.
