Lillie Mae Carpenter was the eldest daughter of William Blake and Jennett Thomas Blake.  She was born in Southland, Texas, and grew up in Oil City, Louisiana. Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and attended "Church of God In Christ" in Oil City, Louisiana where her father was the senior deacon.

Lillie married George H. Carpenter during her teenage years, she then relocated with her husband to Flint Michigan, then Garden City, Kansas, finally settling in Denver, Colorado. She honed her love for cooking by attending culinary school and began working in private country clubs,   restaurants and cafes. As a professional cook, she was loved and adored by all of those that worked with her.

Lillie moved from Denver, Colorado to Selma, California after the loss of her husband and from there she came to settle in Sacramento to be closer to her sister and other family members.

Lillie loved sports, especially football, and was very passionate about the Denver Broncos.  That competitive nature ran in the family! So, when the Broncos played the Raiders, (her sister Hannah's  favorite team) each loved to taunt the other about who was the best team, who was the best and worst players, and who was the best coach. The other competitive game she liked was dominos. When it came to playing dominos that is when she would really shine! The joy that she got from playing (and winning) was immeasurable; and she loved to "trash talk".

Lillie loved baking from scratch--not out of a box--and the cake that was her specialty was the "rum cake". She loved to bake it and we all loved to eat it!!!  Not only did the family get to enjoy her rum cakes, but when her eldest niece was deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006, the troops loved receiving tins of "Aunt Lillie's rum cakes". Lillie loved people and they loved her back.

She had many close friends that have stayed in touch over many years even though separated by thousands of miles; to include Lanie Green her best friend who spent many days busy in the sewing room in her basement; or her time with close friend, Rosalyn Smith, cooking and sharing recipes, and of course, her steady long-time family friend, Isaac Stevenson; who would get her out of the house to try her luck at the Indian Casino.  Lillie was not a big gambler, but she could spend hours at the penny machine!   Always a caring, loving person, and a great listener. Lillie never had children of her own; but, at times she became a mother figure to those who knew and loved her.

Lillie has now joined her parents, Jennett and  William Blake, Her brother William Blake Jr, her sister Minnie Mae Blake; her husband George Carpenter and her youngest sister, Hannah B. Mosley and nephew Phillip D. Jackson.

Lillie leaves behind to cherish her memory; nieces and nephews; Jannett Jackson, Virginia Jackson, Cynthia Jackson,  Helena Mosley, Glenn Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Anthony Mosley; Theresa   Alston, Diane Mosley, Freddy Mosley, Gary Mosley, Net Beck, Floyd Mosley; Great-nieces and nephews; Jason Rayford, Tarschilla Jackson, Edward Jackson, Justin Jackson, Mckynz Jackson-Coel, Jannett Jackson (JJ); Savannah Jackson, Pavoni Jackson, Justice Shelton-Mosley, Taylor Mosley, Blake Roberts, Helyce Roberts and a host of many more relatives and friends.
