Lisa Dixon was born to Charles Edward and Carieta Muriel Dixon in Washington, D.C. on  November 22, 1964. Prior to her birth, an epidemic of German Measles broke out in the United States and her mother was infected during the first trimester and Lisa was born legally deaf and blind – that is completely blind in in the right eye and partially blind in the left.

Lisa and her brother Charles moved to San Francisco to be with their mom  in 1970 shortly after her move in 1969 and Lisa was enrolled into the California School for the Blind in Berkeley, California.  Lisa was a determined child and would not let her disabilities deter her from anything she put her mind to do. In spite of it all, she could communicate the speech, sign language, holding her hand to her Mom's throat to feel the vibrations of Mom's vocal cords.  Lisa could would dance and sing. She was a sweet, loving, and happy child, who loved the Lord, giving her life to Jesus at a very young age at Ingleside Presbyterian Church, under the leadership of The Rev. Roland Gordon.

One day, her mother took her to a Revival and when the Revivalist saw Lisa, he came over to her and laid his hands upon her and as she and her mother were leaving, she told her mother, she could see out of her right eye!  Oh what a Blessing that was!

After being tested by Eye Doctors and academically, miraculously, she was transferred from the California School for the Blind to the California School for the Deaf in Fremont and miraculously went from a 4 th grade level and placed in the 11 th grade and the next year matriculated to the 12 th where she was a proud graduate in 1986.

She has worked both at Safeway and Sam's Club each for several years.

Lisa attended the Voice of Pentecost Church in San Francisco where they had a vibrant Deaf Ministry.  While there, she had the wonderful opportunity to go to Africa around 1988, an adventure she would never forget.

She attended  American River College in Sacramento.

Lisa is preceded in death by her biological father, Charles Dixon.  She is survived by her mother, Rev. Dr. Carieta Cain Grizzell, her father Rev. Martin F. Grizzell, her brother, Charles Dixon-Laws, Martin F. Grizzell, Jr. Aaron T. Grizzell (Colette) Sisters: Tanisha Laws Hunter-Burns, Nakisha Laws, and Kimberly Grizzell; nieces and nephews, many cousins, including Sharon Mackey; her wonderful friends who took excellent care of her to the end: Ellen Dorr, Pam Mimms, Cynthia Higgs, and Mary  and several others who also checked on Lisa, her oldest friend Roxanne Crosley, and many other relatives and friends.
