Obituary

Lois Jean Whitlow

October 31, 1944 – November 10, 2024

Lois Jean Whitlow passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving children, Aaron and Leslie. Born on October 31, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, Lois was the daughter of Herschel and Anna Lee (Ford) Johnson. As a teenager, she moved to Michigan City, Indiana, to live with her cousins, Bill and Martha Farmer, where she attended Elston High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard Whitlow, whom she married on February 8, 1964. Soon after, they moved to Sacramento, California, where Richard was stationed at McClellan Air Force Base.

Lois will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and infectious laughter that could light up any room. She had a special way of making everyone around her feel loved and cared for. A devoted mother and grandmother, Lois found joy in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories with her children and grandchildren, Alexandria Whitlow and Chase and Connor Graves.

Her family was the center of her world, and she was a constant source of support for those she loved. Lois kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for others made her a cherished friend to all who knew her.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Anna Lee Johnson; her beloved husband, Richard; and several siblings, including Kathryn Lowery (Louis), Ann Garner (Winfred Sr.), Grover Johnson (Yvette), Herschel Johnson Jr., Charles Johnson (Barbara), and Pamela Roberts (Roger). She is survived by her children, Aaron and Leslie; her grandchildren, Alexandria, Chase, and Connor; her siblings, Carolyn Gardner, Martha Murrell (Eli), Larry Johnson (Jackie), Dorothy Acklin, and Patricia Frazier; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

Lois will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
