The Life, Love, and Legacy of Lymar Benjamin Cole:
Lymar Benjamin Cole was born on October 29, 1984 in Camp Pendleton, Ca. to Gregory
and Angela Cole. His birth was an event for his maternal grandparents, Nana ("Naners") and
Papa, because he was their first gran! As he grew into his adolesence, his parents remarried. He
grew up in Antelope Valley with his mother, Angela Counts, stepfather, Thomas Counts Jr, and
his two younger sisters, Jillian and Audrey Counts. The family attended True Vine Gospel
Church. was baptized during his upbringing. Parallel to his life in Antelope Valley, his father
was in the Marine Corp., and while stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he married Tomoko-san ("T").
Lymar would gain a stepmother and extended family that loved him in Okinawa, Japan. When
stationed stateside, he would spend time with his father, stepmother, and family.
For his primary education, Lymar attended Westside Christian School. For his high
school education, he attended Paraclete High School and graduated in 2002. For his
undergraduate education, he attended Central Arizona College in 2002, and in 2004, he
transferred to American River College in Sacramento, Ca. earning his Associate of Arts degree
in Jul 2005. He attended California State University, Sacramento and graduated in August of
2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Mass Media.
In September of 2011, Lymar began working for a mortgage company as an account
executive (AE) taking inbound calls and assisting mortgage loan officers (MLO) and loved his
job. In 2012, Lymar and Stephanie met in Citrus Heights, Ca. They had their first date on May
18th, and from that day forward, they celebrated this day every year as the beginning of their
relationship. That summer Stephanie encouraged Lymar to study and take the NMLS test
required of a loan officer. Like taking the written portion of the driving test, there were marginal
errors, but on the third try he knocked it out of the park. Passing the NMLS and getting his
license did not quite go as he planned, On Christmas Eve that year, he called Stephanie and
questioned his choices. It was always one question, "Is this what you want to do?" and he always
said, "Yes." She explained that he was in the best position to learn how his future loans would be
processed, how to avoid the marginal errors, and make connnections for future leads.
Parallel to these work milestones, he was going to experience the one of the greatest
milestones of his life! They were pregnant during that prep talk and didn't even know it. Lymar
became a father to his beloved son, Benjamin William Frederick Cole, on September 22, 2013 at
Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, Ca. On February 11, 2014, Lymar and Stephanie took a
cab to the courthouse in Downtown Sacramento to got married. God called him home two
months and two days shy of their 10 year wedding anniversary and almost 12 years as a
"Squard" (the name cherished by both because of texting typo meant to say "our squad"). He
was the definition of "True Grit" and was named "Mr.Consistent" by his superiors for consistent
numbers every month. That same year he was awarded the Presidental Award for being in the top
5% of producers for the entire company. In 2015, he was awarded the Presidental Award for a
second time, and welcomed his second beloved son, Russell Lymar Satoshi Cole on November
22, 2015 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Roseville, Ca. In 2016, he was awarded the
Presidental Award for a third time and he would go on to earn awards, trophies, and celebrate
those achievements.

Lymar his lived life unapologetically. He was a trendsetter, loved shoes, expensive watches, and
supported black owned companies. He was outgoing and a homebody, but everyone loved his
charismatic personality, infectious smile, voice of reason, and brutal honesty. It wasn't time
spent with him but the impact he made in so many lives. If he was looking down, it was to help
someone up. He lived and loved to provide and protect his wife and two boys!.
Lymar loved all sports and supported all athletes.He loved playing, coaching, watching various
sports on multiple devices, texting in his group chat, and the entire culture of the fantasy football
leagues. He loved and was loyal to the Dallas Cowboys, USC Trojans, LA Lakers, LA Dodgers,
and Manchester United to the end.
This year was special because he fulfilled one of his goals as a dad. This football season Russell
would play was his first season of football with the Carolina Panthers (K-2nd) and Lymar would
help coach his son's first season of football alongside Coach Nick. Lymar loved helping the boys
during practice, conditioning, and game day. During the season, Lymar was chosen by his
company to travel to Columbia to do humanitarian work. The itinerary would conflict with
Russell's last game and the playoffs. The last game before play offs, Russell was on fire! Lymar
was scheduled to come home Sunday night, but he told his wife he was going to surprise
Benajmin and Russell. He wanted to make it to this play off game to help assist Coach Nick, lead
their sons and teammates to win the playoffs.
Lymar Benjamin Cole passed away in his home on Saturday, Decemeber 9, 2023 at 2:34a.m. His
wife and his boys were right next to him. His father, stepmother, and his wife's best friend
arrived shortly after. His son Benjamin let his mother and little brother Russell know that his
spirit was with God now and he would still be with us just in Heaven. A true confirmation of
Lymar's Living Legacy.
Lymar was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Benjamin Wash and Freddie Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Cole, his son Benjamin, and his son Russell Cole. His boys
had one request for their mom and his wife: to make sure Lymar's Living Legacy was not
forgotten in their three lives. Without hesitation, she promised.
He is survived by two Matriarchs and generations of family: His maternal grandmother,
Mrs.Jacqueline Patterson (Nana), beloved mother, Angela Cole-Counts, his sister Jillian and
husband, Jubril Odusanya, their children and his nieces and nephews he loved dearly Jaila, DJ,
Aeryn, Darien, and Jubril; his youngest sister, Audrey Counts, her son and his nephew, his Aunt
Tammy and Uncle Rick, Uncle Christopher and his beloved children, extended families, friends,
and their loved ones.
His paternal grandmother, Mrs. Angela Wash (Gigi); his father, Gregory Cole, his beloved
stepmother, Tomoko-san; his beloved cousin, Angelica Wash, her son's and his cousin's, Andre
and baby Anthony, the entire Owen's family, the entire Fitzgerald family, and extended family
near and far.
