Marribell Imogene Shelton-DeWildt, was born August 3, 1931 in New Orleans, La. She was the 3rd of 9 children born to the Union of: Harold Shelton and Mary Belle Shelby The nine siblings: Harold Shelton, Gloria Shelton, Marribell Shelton, June Shelton, Mahalia Shelton, Timothy Shelton, Wallace Shelton, Zadie Shelton, and Cornelius Shelton. After spending her childhood in New Orleans, Marribell moved to Detroit with her first husband, Sumter J. Hogan Sr. From this union spawned three children, Sumter J. Hogan Jr., Kirk M. Hogan and Pat Hogan-Spadaro. During her time in Detroit, Marribell became very proficient in managing restaurants. Duties included, balancing finances and booking entertainment. Marribell also knew how to throw a party. Fast Forward...


Some years after her first divorce, Mom, didn't think that love would call again. Upon relocating to California, she met her current husband, Jake DeWildt "When I first met Jake, I turned him down." "Then, one day he said, ' I'll fix breakfast for you, I met him in October, November he proposed to me. We got engaged on Christmas !" "In January, we moved in together and got married, and I've been here ever since." In her years here in California, Marribell finished her work career and retired as Activities Manager for Eskaton Corporation; which provides housing and support for senior citizens. She was in charge of making sure the residents had quality entertainment during her tenure. You see., Marribell knew how to throw a party. She was employed there over 25years. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband of 36 years, Jake DeWildt, three children, Sumter J. Hogan Jr., Kirk M. Hogan, Pat Hogan-Spadaro. A brother, Cornelius Shelton and two sisters, June Mathew and Zaidie. and a host of Grand, Great-Grand, and Great-Grand Children.
