Michael Davis was born on December 30, 1952 in Randolph, AZ to Elonzo and Atsie Davis.

Michael attended Kenilworth Elementary and Coolidge Junior High. In 1968, he relocated to Sacramento, CA and attended Grant Union Highschool. During his time at Grant, he played basketball for the Pacers and often referred to himself as being the best on the court, with the "coldest" jump shot. He graduated in 1971. In the early 80s, he began his employment in Janitorial Services, where he quickly made a name for himself. He was well known for his hard work and dedication. No matter the job, he always took pride in what he did. He later worked as a Ground Keeper for the City of Sacramento, Parks and Recreations. For several years, he serviced a variety of locations throughout the city, before retiring on State Disability.

Michael grew up in church. Both parents were firm believers of Jesus Christ and made certain that him and his siblings knew the way. He visited and attended many churches over the years, but more recently he became a member of Emmanuel CME Church, under the leadership of Pastor Darrell T. Watson, Sr.

Michael, better known as Big Mike, was a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He dedicated much of his life rearing his children, doing the best that he could, while lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Even when he was unable, he would always try to make a way to help others. He had a huge heart and had no problem at all, showing it. A genuine soul indeed.

Big Mike had an outgoing personality. He would easily make conversation with anyone who crossed his path. He was also very funny. Always cracking a joke and had a punch line for almost everything. Even to this day, he would answer the phone and say, "Pool Hall, Eight-ball Speaking". LOL!  He was known for playing entirely too much, especially when it was time to be serious... but that's just who he was!

Big Mike loved his family and friends to NO END! They were everything to him. Any chance he got, he was spending time with loved ones, near AND far. Distance meant nothing! He was always on the go. He would hop on the highway, I-5 South, and travel to San Bernardino or Arizona in a heartbeat! They all knew, if anyone was SURE to come, it would be Big Mike. He also had an undeniable love for his hometown - RANDOLPH, ARIZONA and his football team - The Dallas Cowboys! You couldn't say anything about them, without him having an input or a story to tell. He spoke so highly of the two; you would have thought he was the mayor of one.. and the coach of the other. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Big Mike entered peacefully into rest on Thursday March 9, 2023, with his children by his side.

Big Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father, Atsie Darden (husband Robert) and Elonzo Davis (wife Clara), the mother of his children, Helen J. Clark, his brothers Elonzo Davis Jr. and Charles Darden Sr., and bonus son Charlie V. McClain (mother Mimi McClain).

Big Mike leaves to cherish his memories, his companion of several years, Freddie Harris White, his children, Donald A. Johnson Jr. (wife Angie), LaTasha R. Clark, Michelle D. Davis and bonus son Ronald McClain. His siblings, Margaret Braxton (husband Richard), Clara Fagan, Eva Armstrong, Yvonne Davis Jefferson (husband Frederick), Vernell Wooten Sr. and Albert Darden, Sr. all of Sacramento, CA. Sherri Braxton of Phoenix, AZ, Dottie Richardson of Las Vegas, NV and Scottie Bombay Davis of San Bernardino, CA.  He also leaves 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, many many cousins and friends.
