Obituary

Richard Joseph Powell was born September 21, 1965 and died March 31, 2018 (death cert says something different but organ donation was March 31st). He is survived by his 2 daughters, Stephanie Powell and Regina Troglin, and 5 grandchildren. He served in desert storm with the United States Army and was discharged honorably in the mid 90s, we do not have exact dates of service unfortunately.
Richard did many jobs throughout his life but most recently found a love of landscaping with one of his best friends Ron Singh in the Sacramento, CA area. He loved hunting and fishing and racing sprint cars, and to many on the track was known as the gas man.
While he wasn't always able to show his affections for people, he truly cared about each person he came into contact with and tried to make them feel like family. He will be missed by so many and the fond memories that those he cared about have will last a lifetime.
Richard wasn't perfect and made a few bad decisions throughout his life but the last 3 years he worked to repair the relationships with his two children, and grew close to his eldest daughter Regina and granddaughter Alison. His love of sending weird Facebook memes will always be a memory that Regina has of her father and the day before he died he had sent her one with some silly logo with their last name on it that made her laugh.
Richard is survived by his five siblings
Susan Murray of Placerville CA, Cathy Cabral of Willows CA, Staci Webb of Colfax CA, Jason Smith of Hazen ND, and Melissa Smith of Goodrich ND.
He is also survived by his step father Ronald Smith of Weimar CA.
He is preceded in death by his mother Georgia Smith and his father Richard Lyle Powell.
He is preceded in death by his maternal, paternal grandparents and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He will truly be missed.
