Sacramento, Ca - Richard Scott Viney, age 63 transitioned to Heaven on Monday, March 15, 2021, while being surrounded by the love of his wife and children. "Scott", as he was known by his family and friends, was born on April 24, 1957 in Logan, Ohio. Scott was a devoted family man and incredible provider.

Scott graduated from Columbus South High School in 1975. After high school he worked for his father, Dick Viney, at Viney and Sons Construction. Shortly thereafter, Scott joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Ogden ship in Long Beach, CA. Scott met his beautiful wife, Audrey at the Long Beach Naval Ship Yard. Once Scott and Audrey were married, they moved from Long Beach, CA to Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA, Columbus, OH, Rockdale, TX then settled down in Long Beach, CA. They remained in Long Beach for 10 years before permanently relocating to Sacramento, CA with their children. Scott worked at MaryAnne's Bakery for over 15 years holding various management positions prior to becoming disabled. Scott was afforded the opportunity to obtain his Real Estate and Brokers licenses becoming a Real Estate Investor for many years. Scott had a passion for crunching numbers and Real Estate but being a devoted husband and father was his priority. Scott was also a dedicated grandfather to his one and only grandson, Hamilton. He took so much pride in being a grandfather. To Hamilton, Scott was "PaPa".  They had a very close relationship. Scott taught Hamilton various life skills and Hamilton couldn't wait to learn something new from his Papa such as how to play chess. Scott also had a very close and special bond with each of his siblings, as well as his favorite cousin John Robert Meade.

Scott was known by many of his family and friends for his quick wit, sense of humor, generosity, thoughtfulness and candor. Although Scott was a quiet man, when he spoke, it was impactful. Scott touched many lives. Scott would drop everything to be present for those he loved; whether it be him giving real estate advice, helping someone solve a problem, or putting a smile on someone's face. Scott was a spiritual man and kept his family covered in prayer. Scott rededicated his life to Christ in 1997.

Scott is preceded in death by his Mother Wilma Jean Viney, His father Richard "Dick" Viney, and brother Andre Viney. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Audrey Viney of Sacramento, CA, his daughter La'Shonda Viney of Sacramento, CA, son Andre Viney of Sacramento, CA, grandson Hamilton Scott Marston of Sacramento, CA, Sister Karla Viney of Youngstown, OH, Sister Maria Viney of Columbus, OH, Brother Van Viney of Columbus, OH, Sister Jennifer Benson of Pickerington, OH (Brother-in-law Bob Benson), brother Adam Viney of Pickerington, OH (Sister-in-law Lisa Viney), and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Scott was dearly loved and is already greatly missed. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a small private memorial will be held for Scott on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Scott's memorial will be available to view virtually.
