William Gary Watkins was born on August 10, 1955 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Mr. and Mrs. James Watkins Sr. He made his peaceful transition on January 27, 2018. He was known as Bill by his family and friends. Billy,
only by his wife Janette. Bill loved the Lord and accepted Christ at a very
early age and was baptized. He
continued his Christian devotion and was ordained as a Deacon at Second Baptist Church and continued his Christian walk at Greater Faith Missionary
Baptist Church, in Stockton California. After moving to Sacramento, California, reconnecting with his Pastor at Greater Harvest Fellowship Church he continued to grow his strength in the Lord.
Bill attended the Newark School system, graduating from Barringer High School in 1973. He then served in the United States Army as a Material Control and Accounting Specialist. He was honorably discharged.
Bill was employed as a logistic technician at Tracy Defense Depot in Tracy, California.
Bill was married to Janette Dinkins-Watkins 37 plus years. From that union they were blessed with three wonderful children: William Quwane, Akeem, Atreese and a beautiful granddaughter Kaylie Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Watkins Sr, Ruth Watkins, two brothers, James Watkins Jr, John Watkins, and two sisters, Sarah Leary and Sandra McCoy
Bill leaves to cherish his beloved memories: wife Janette Watkins, two sons Quwane and Akeem and daughter Atreese, two brothers Alfus Johnson (Velma), Thomas Watkins (Diane) four sisters, Judith Williams, Jean Sampson, Cynthia Watkins, Linda McMiller; nieces, nephews; great-nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
